Current Projects: Pumping Station 4 Rehabilitation

Home / What We Do / Current Construction Projects / Pumping Station 4 Rehabilitation

Project Overview

Pumping Station 4, located at 522 John Nolen Drive, provides service to the City of Madison and the Town of Madison. The station was placed into service in 1967 and pumps flow directly to the Nine Springs plant.

The project purpose is to rehabilitate aging mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment and provide additional capacity for the next 50 years of operation. The existing building will be updated with new roofing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning and odor control equipment. The existing three pumps and motors will be replaced with new larger units to meet future capacity needs. New onsite emergency generator, electrical service and control systems will also be included.

The station rehabilitation work will be mostly confined to the site property with minimal impacts to the Capital City Trail and surrounding areas.

Public Involvement

Project requirements and considerations were coordinated with the adjacent hotel, City of Madison and Dane County. Because the work is contained within the existing Pumping Station 4 building and property, public input will not be necessary.
