What is inflow and infiltration (I&I)?
Inflow and infiltration (I&I) is clear water - such as groundwater and stormwater - that enters the sanitary sewer system.

Inflow and infiltration (I&I) is clear water - such as groundwater and stormwater - that enters the sanitary sewer system.

You can reduce inflow and infiltration by inspecting and repairing sewer laterals, capping cleanouts and checking sump pump discharge points.

Private sewer laterals are pipes that carry wastewater from a property into the sewer system and are the property owner's responsibility.

Water from sump pumps should discharge back into the environment and not into the sanitary sewers otherwise it overloads the system.

Our lab had two big successes this year that demonstrated the quality of the team and their dedication to excellence.

The District is delighted to join utilities around Wisconsin to celebrate Wastewater Professionals Appreciation Day on Thursday, May 22.
