Project Overview
The Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District will make repairs to our West Interceptor Extension located in the Allen Boulevard right-of-way. The project duration will be from April 24 through July 24, 2023. The work zone is located at the 2100 block of Allen Boulevard. Both southbound lanes of Allen Boulevard will be closed (May 3-June 30), and two-way traffic lanes will be established in the lanes of Allen Boulevard east of the median. Southbound traffic will be diverted there. Repairs to the sanitary sewer will require bypassing pumping of the local sanitary sewer service. We do not anticipate interruption of service for residents.
WHAT ARE INTERCEPTORS?
An interceptor is a sewer pipe that receives wastewater from smaller local sewer pipes that serve neighborhoods or municipalities. Interceptors are the largest pipes in the sewage system and convey wastewater by gravity to pump stations or treatment facilities.
