| Experienced Maintenance Electrician |
The Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District has an opening for an experienced maintenance electrician. This position requires the knowledge and aptitude to install and modify all aspects of power distribution and electrical control systems in an industrial environment. Troubleshooting skills are essential. Experience with electrical maintenance of instrumentation and programmable logic controllers is preferred. Applicants for the position should have at least eight years of applicable electrical experience. The successful applicant will be working on equipment at the District’s wastewater treatment plant and pumping stations located throughout the District’s service area in Dane County. The ideal candidate will have completed an Industrial Electrician apprenticeship program and be certified as a journeyman industrial electrician. If the successful candidate has not completed such a program, he/she will be required to immediately enter into such a program. The District will work with the candidate to obtain advanced standing in the program commensurate with past experience and training. Skill in the use of hand tools and small power tools is essential. Proven ability to work independently is essential. Applicants who are scheduled for an interview will be given a written test. The starting pay rate for a journeyman electrician is $21.98 per hour with an extensive benefits program including health, dental, and life insurance; vacation pay; sick leave pay; and a retirement program. After successful completion of a six month probation period, the pay rate increases to $22.54 per hour.
