Retired District Operations Engineer Steve Reusser along with current employees Alan Grooms and Aaron Dose received the Radebaugh Award during the 89th Annual Meeting of the Central States Water Environment Association. The Radebaugh Award is presented to the authors of the paper judged to be the best presentation at the previous year’s Annual Meeting. At the 88th Annual Meeting in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, Steve, Alan, and Aaron presented “Operating Experience with Ostara Struvite Harvesting Process”. This is one of the first documented reports on the operation of this exciting new process. The award was presented at the Awards Banquet on May 19. Steve has now received this award more times than anyone in the history of the Central States organization.
The District was awarded the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Engineering Excellence for Pump Station 18 and the 11th Addition (i.e., Phosphorous Recovery at Nine Spring WWTP). Also, the 11th Addition won the Grand Award for Best in State. Bruce Borelli, Jeff Klawes, Tim Stieve, Erik Rehr, Dave Lundey, John Bembinster, Todd Gebert, and numerous people from O&M were involved in these projects.
Monty Baker has been selected as the 2015 recipient of the Wisconsin Section Laboratory Analyst Award. That is a great honor and certainly a deserving award for Monty, recognizing all that he has done for the Wisconsin Section and Central States for the Operator's Challenge.
