WI Campus Relief-Phase 4
MMSD’s existing West Interceptor, constructed in 1916, had inadequate capacity and had become unreliable due to age. The project replaced the old 21” vitrified clay interceptor, which had suffered numerous cracked pipes and offset joints, and increased overall system capacity. The project included approximately 2,600 feet of 36-inch diameter interceptor along Campus Drive, from Walnut Street to the UW Stock Pavilion. It was the fourth phase in a series of projects to provide relief to the West Interceptor system. Future phases (5-??) will add relief to the system, westward to near Whitney Way.
